Manna Box

What is Manna?

When you see an unexpected blessing in your life, you can thank God for the manna. You can say, “Thank you, God, for giving us good things! Thank you for manna!” And you can thank God for the blessing you received.

You can ask God to help you bless others, too. You can say, “God, help me to bring blessings to others. Help me to be manna.”

These videos show how other people make their blessing bags:

Manna in Yourself

Sometimes to feel God’s love, we need to sit and be still. It can be hard to be still in our minds. We have lots of things to think about in life. A very old tradition in prayer is a labyrinth.

Learn more about the labyrinth here.

Manna in Your Home

Jesus told this parable to help us understand what God’s kingdom is like. He said it is like yeast that a family mixes into flour to make bread. At first, you can’t see the yeast working. It takes time and warmth and sweetness.  With our hands, we slowly work the yeast  through all the dough to make it rise.

Manna in Your Family

When you gather together around the table for a meal, Jesus is with you. It is a time to talk to him, to give thanks for your food, to bless the food, and to share the food.

Manna in Your Community

Just like God fed the people manna in the wilderness, Jesus feeds us. The Eucharist is manna! Jesus shared bread with his friends at his Last Supper. He told them, “Take, eat: this is my body.” Jesus told them, “Do this to remember me.” We still do this today!

The priest says these words at church. When the priest puts the Communion bread into our hands, they often say, “The Body of Christ, the bread of heaven.” This reminds us that Jesus is the true manna for our souls.
